If there is any thing that we do the most in our existence, I would think that would be waiting. We wait for transport, we wait for transport to take us there, we wait for our family, friends, networks, acquaintances, we practice and wait to get better at a skill, we wait for results. By now we should be so adept at waiting that it should be second nature to us.

Yet waiting can be one of the most agonising things in our earthly existence. In anticipation for a more blessed future we endure, hope, pine, wait. We want the things we anticipate now, unable to comprehend the importance of later. Later is good, later builds our character, later causes us to rely on God, later helps us to increase our faith.

Joseph waited till he was an adult before he became Prime Minister of Egypt, Nehemiah waited 4 months to obtain leave of King Artaxerxes, David waited 12 years in exile in hostile territory before he ascended the throne, even once having been tempted when King Saul stumbled into his cave where he hid. They all were ready when God's time came for them.

Heavenly Father, I don't like to wait, but I know later is better for me, I know when later becomes now, I will be ready by Your will. Teach me to be a man after God's own heart. Teach me to look upon You, and trust You, and increase my faith in You.
