The things that I have been doing recently have dragged me away from God. But He has pulled me back to Him. Reading the chapter on "honour" in the book Amanda lent to me, "The Supernatural Ways of Royalty" made me reflect and think really hard about all that I have learnt. For one, it is honouring my dad and my mum. As much as I confess that I do sometimes think a little less of them, for reasons that I am way more versed in a particular topic, it is breaking the fifth commandment in the Bible. To honour is to treat others with genuine respect, without looking at them and perceiving them to be less and therefore less worthy. It is showing true humility. If there is anything networking has taught me, it is that people in the corporate world tend to focus the honour on themselves, and the genuine humility is quite absent (scary) in those circles.

Many things spoke to me as I read through the chapter, which I will list out for posterity reasons. Honour has a structure given by God, and the church, and even other institutions, should abide by this Godly formula. Honour is true humility in action, to respect others for who they are, and not putting yourself in front of them. Honour is giving God what He deserves, even though He is already infinite and does not need it. Honour will lead to a humble and forgiving heart, a Christian character of meekness and longsuffering. Honour builds resilience. Honour will lead to blessedness.

I pray and ask that I develop a truly humble heart, so that I may emulate the forefathers of the past; David, Daniel, Joseph, Nehemiah. That I may first be a good example for Christ, and shine forth God's glory.
