My God is a God who cares. He has a great compassion for us, so much so that His entire being is moved deeply when He sees us in sorrow, grief, and pain. He understands very clearly what we are going through, and He feels our pain fully. Just like how He provided for the masses with 5 loaves and 2 fishes, He, the creator of everything that we know, has an infinite capability to love and help us.
I did not understand what it meant that Jesus is all my sufficiency. To me, I know that he is able to comfort me with His love and grace. Although this was true, I understood it as Jesus being a better substitute for the things that I have: my family, my friends, my social status, my earthly possessions. Today's message made me realise the true meaning of Jesus being all our sufficiency, and being all that we need. Jesus is the provider of all that we have, and all that we need. My realisation that Jesus isn't simply a better substitute for the things we have, but He is the source of all that we have.
I was like a child fixated on the toys I get from my parents, thinking that I would get better toys from them as I know they love me. I had forgotten the bigger picture. That my parents were the source of my joy, and that with them, the toys that I have mean nothing.
Sometimes all it takes is a tiny shift in the way we think, and the beauty of God's presence becomes magnified manifold. I thank the Lord for revealing to me this precious understanding of how things are. God is truly, truly, wonderful.
O yes, He cares-
I know He cares!
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Saviour cares.
