The list of people I have to treat gets longer by the week, but I am blessed to have people around me who help me in their many ways, big and little. Today's lunch with Donovan was a long awaited one. I'm quite glad there is someone in the Pre-incubator whom I can connect to so easily and quickly, and in a natural manner as well. The sharing and discussions that we have are meaningful, yet without the awkward formality that arises out of such conversations. Slapstick humour gets thrown out nearly as often as serious talk, about empathy, religion, life, accompishments, prestige, what have you...
Today perhaps my question on growth and change was better answered. In short, I was wondering, when a person starts to change his or her behaviour, how do we change it such that it isn't awkward to friends whom we know for a long time? How do we remain natural and without the fear of being judged? This is as pertinent as it gets because a conscious decision to change a habit requires constant observation of your actions and how people react to it. In effect, because it is conscious it might not be natural any longer. How do we change our behaviour and thought processes while remaining natural and unafraid to be judged for that change at the same time? Well, Donovan made a good point about taking baby steps to change, and being comfortable with every incremental change (dy/dx siol) before developing further. I think I shall leave it at that, as I adapt to things which I want to change in me. Another learning that I shall store here for posterity. || posted by Kuan Hui
